Application areas of slotted casings
1. What is a slotted casing?
Slotted casing is a metal pipe with long slots, usually used for transportation in oil fields, water wells and other fields. slotted casing is a method of cutting multiple longitudinal or spiral straight and staggered seams of certain specifications in various ways on oil casing or tubing. Cut using a special ultra-thin cutting blade and beam, slit width (0.2-0.5mm). The joint cross-sections are rectangular, trapezoidal (trapezoid angle is 3-8 degrees) and special shapes (round holes), which can ensure a permeability of 0.5%-10%. The arrangement of seams can be processed according to user requirements.
2. Advantages of slotted casings
Slotted casing has many excellent properties, the most important of which is its good anti-corrosion properties. Since some special anti-corrosion materials are added during the manufacturing process, the slotted casing will not undergo any chemical reaction even if it is exposed to the air for a long time. In addition, slotted casings have excellent durability and can be used in harsh environments for a long time without any problems.
3. Features of slotted casing products
(1)
Slotted casings are suitable for sand control in sand wells with sand particle sizes greater than 0.3mm.
(2) The edge of the slit has good verticality, the edge is smooth and burr-free, and the slit is even.
(3) Large flow area. The 27/8” screen tube has 300 gaps/1.5m, which is 2.4 times larger than the flow area of oil pipes of the same specification.
(4) Carry out anti-corrosion treatment as a whole to improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the screen tube and extend its underground working life.
(5) The slotted casing adopts J55 or N80 petroleum casing body, which has high strength and is not easy to deform.
(6) Large inner diameter makes it easy to configure the pipe string.
4. Application fields of slotted casings
Due to its excellent performance and durability, slotted casings are widely used in industry. It is mainly used to transport oil, gas or water in oil wells, natural gas wells and other fields. In addition, it also has certain applications in fields such as environmental governance and water conservancy projects. The following are the main application areas of grooved pipes:
1) Water well construction
Slotted casing is a commonly used support material in water well construction. Gaps in the slotted casing allow water to seep in from around the pipe while preventing soil particles from getting inside the pipe. It is widely used in agricultural irrigation, industrial water supply, municipal engineering and other fields.
2) Groundwater extraction
In groundwater extraction, slotted casings are often used to construct well filters. Through reasonable design and installation of trough pipes, effective filtration and collection of groundwater can be achieved, making the water quality cleaner and the water quantity more stable.
3) Oil and natural gas exploration
Slotted casing is increasingly used in oil and gas exploration. It can be used to collect formation samples, conduct hydrogeological tests, improve oil and gas well productivity, etc. The special structure of the slotted casing can prevent cuttings and particles from entering the wellbore and keep the production well smooth.
4) Geological exploration and groundwater monitoring
Slotted casings can be used in geological exploration, groundwater monitoring and other fields. It can be installed at underground penetrations and used to obtain soil, rock and water samples. Through the application of slotted casings, the monitoring of groundwater levels, water quality and hydrodynamic characteristics can be achieved.
5) Underground engineering and soil protection
In underground projects, slotted casings can serve as an important component of soil protection and drainage systems. It can control the groundwater level, prevent soil liquefaction, landslides and other problems, and ensure the stability and safety of the project.
6) Environmental management and sewage treatment
Slotted casings are also widely used in environmental management, sewage treatment and other fields. It can be used for the treatment of precipitated pollutants in lakes, rivers and water bodies, as well as water filtration and solid-liquid separation processes in urban sewage treatment plants.
It should be noted that the requirements and specifications for slotted casings will vary in different fields. When selecting and using slotted casings, it is necessary to consider the pipe material, seam size, seam shape, corrosion resistance and other factors according to the specific application requirements, and follow relevant industry standards and specifications. In addition, attention should be paid to safe operations during the construction process to ensure the project quality and construction efficiency of using slotted casings.
