In the Chinese standard classification, astm+a500+/+a500 involves steel pipes, cast iron pipes, and bare wires. A500 steel pipe piles have many different names - for square and rectangular, it is called structural pipe, or high-speed steel (or hollow structural parts). A500 products are used in applications that require load-bearing applications. 2.ASTM A500 Quality Standard for Cold-Formed Welded and Seamless Carbon Steel Structural Pipes for Round and Shaped Steel

Round Structural Pipes - For steel pipes with a specified outer diameter not greater than 1.9 in (48.3 mm), the variation in outer diameter shall not exceed 0.5%, and the specific value shall not exceed 0.005 in (0.13 mm). For steel pipes with a specified outer diameter greater than 2.00 in (50.8 mm), the variation in outer diameter shall not exceed 0.75%, and the specific value shall not exceed 0.005 in (0.13 mm). The outer diameter shall be measured at least 2 in (50.8 mm) from the pipe end.

Square and Rectangular Pipes - The outer diameter shall be measured at least 2 in (50.8 mm) from the pipe end. The difference between the outer diameter of the steel pipe and the specified outer diameter shall not exceed the outer diameter variation specified in Table 3, where the variation in outer diameter includes convexity and concavity.

ASTM A500 steel pipe is welded and seamless pipe with a perimeter of 88 inches (2235 mm) or less and a wall thickness of 0.875 inches (22 mm) or less. Grade D requires heat treatment.
