How to calculate the weight of galvanized square tube?

Galvanized square tube is a hollow square section steel tube with square cross-section shape and size made of hot-rolled or cold-rolled galvanized strip steel or galvanized coil as blank, cold-bent and then welded by high-frequency welding, or a galvanized square tube made of pre-made cold-bent hollow steel tube by hot-dip galvanizing.

The calculation formula of galvanized square tube is: 4 * thickness * (side length-thickness) * 0.00785, where the side length and wall thickness are in millimeters (mm). Directly substitute the values into the above formula to get the weight of square tube per meter in kilograms.


For example, for a square tube of 30 x 30 x 2.5 mm, the weight per meter can be calculated according to the above formula: 4 x 2.5 x (30-2.5) x 7.85=275 x 7.85=2158.75 grams, which is about 2.16 kilograms.


When the wall thickness and side length are both in millimeters, 4x wall thickness x (side length - wall thickness) is used to calculate the volume of the square tube per meter in cubic centimeters (cm3), and then multiplied by the specific gravity of iron, 7.85 grams per cubic centimeter, the weight of the square tube per meter in kilograms is obtained.
