ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials standard, and ASTM A500 is the standard for welded steel pipe (referring to the standard specification for cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel structural pipes for round steel and steel sections). In the international standard classification, astm+a500+/+a500 involves pipe parts and pipes, wires and cables, and steel products. In the Chinese standard classification, astm+a500+/+a500 involves steel pipes, cast iron pipes, and bare wires. A500 steel pipe piles have many different names - for square and rectangular, it is called structural pipe, or high-speed steel (or hollow structural parts). A500 products are used in applications that require load-bearing applications. Due to its aesthetic appeal, A500 is often used as a display in the Rock Hall of Fame such as the Cleveland Architectural Wonder. ASTM A500 covers cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel round, square, rectangular, and "special" tube, electric resistance welded (ERW steel tube) carbon steel pipe for welded, riveted, or bolted construction applications.
